WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED? DO YOU DELIVER PUPPIES TO MY STATE?

We are located in Utah, near Salt Lake City. Most of our puppies go out of state. We can recommend a flight nanny, who will fly in cabin with your puppy to your local airport.  I am also happy to meet you at the SLC airport with your puppy, or to welcome you to my home where the puppies are raised if you would like to fly or drive in to pick up your puppy.

WHAT IS THE FULL GROWN SIZE OF YOUR PUPPIES?

On average, they are 12-18ish pounds full grown.  Some have been as small as 6 pounds full grown, and some as large as 25.  While there is no way to guarantee full grown size, the size of the parents is the best indicator.  I will tell you the full grown size of the parents, and the charted adult size of the puppy based on their current age.

WHEN CAN MY PUPPY COME HOME?

The puppies stay with me until their 8th week of life while they complete our Developmental Puppy Nursery program. I will give you a 3 day window for pick up/delivery of your puppy. If you can't take the puppy home during this window, please wait for another litter.

HOW OFTEN DO YOU BREED YOUR DOGS?

This is a really important question to me, because I feel strongly that all dogs should be primarily PETS.  Our mommy dogs have a maximum of 4 litters, and then they are spayed.   We work with a board certified Canine Fertility Specialist Vet who guides all of our breeding choices.  Each mating is done under supervision of the specialist.  The specialist determines when the dog is ready to breed.  The latest research shows that skipping heat cycles between breedings is correlated with much higher prevalence of uterine and breast cancer in mommy dogs.  The goal is to put the dog through as few heat cycles as possible to keep the chance of cancer to a minimum.  If mommy dogs are healthy and have recovered from their last litter, they are bred on 3-4 consecutive heat cycles and then spayed.  Most of my mommies LOVE being moms.  Their puppies are their little playthings.  I have had a dog who just seemed overly stressed emotionally by the experience, so we didn't have her do more litters, and she is still living her best life in her main and most important role as a beloved pet with her guardian family.

WHERE DO YOUR PARENT DOGS LIVE?

Each of our parent dogs has their own home with a local human family, for life.  It breaks my heart to think of dogs being primarily "used" as breeding vehicles, or kept in kennels with a lot of other dogs.  They need to be primarily PETS.  They shouldn't be sold after they are "retired" from breeding as if their purpose is over.  Their purpose is to be a lovely member of a family.  I place our future breeding dogs in local homes with trusted families who are eager and committed to having a dog join their family for life.  This is called a "guardian home."  These mommy dogs come to my home while they deliver and raise their puppies under my supervision in our developmental puppy nursery.

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR HEALTH TESTING. IS THERE A HEALTH GUARANTEE?

Each of our parent dogs has a complete panel of DNA testing done.  This tests for 180+ genetic diseases, and a large number of genetic physical traits.  The tests show us if the dog is a recessive carrier of anything we need to be aware of when deciding on matings. The genetic panels also give us information about furnishings, coat types, color panels, and allows us to breed for heath first, and then cosmetic traits. Our parent dogs are also physically tested for patellas, hearts, and hips, to make sure they are going to pass good qualities along to their offspring.  There is a 2 year genetic health guarantee on all of our puppies. We are confident in this guarantee as we do so much testing before a breeding is even planned. Should something horrible happen and your dog develops genetic disease that significantly alters their quality of life, we will either refund for treatment or provide you with a new puppy.

WHAT METHODS DO YOU USE FOR RAISING YOUR PUPPIES?

This is a great question. THANK YOU for being a conscientious and informed buyer! Our method has been heavily influenced by well researched experts, including The Puppy Culture Method, The BadAss Breeder Protocols, The Rule of Sevens, and The Tracy Method, among others.  At this point, we are using a modified version of all of the above methods, along with our own adjustments and unique additions, which has resulted in what I can only call

"The Poppins Method."  We've developed this through lots of trial and error with our specific breed. Our method is unique to our family dynamic and the specific goals we have for our puppies.  Different breeds have different "jobs," and we have specific goals for our puppies which may not be realistic for other breeds, and vice versa.  Our method has been very successful at providing new families with well-adjusted, bright, and easily trainable puppies.  They are very used to new experiences and being handled by humans. Their job is "loving companion." Please read more about our Developmental Puppy Nursery and Intentional, Ethical Breeding.

WHAT IS THE PRICE OF A PUPPY? HOW MUCH IS THE DEPOSIT?

All puppies are $4800.  We don't discrimate price based on gender or color or breed.

The deposit to join the waitlist is $1000, and is not refundable.

The deposit goes toward the total cost of the puppy.

Utah Sales Tax will be charged on total price.

*a $1000 surcharge will be added to your final price if you specify a puppy with a charted full grown size of less than 10 pounds. This is because of the higher mortality rate of puppies this size, and the extra, around the clock care they require.

*I will also add a $1000 surcharge if you are requesting very specific physical traits that I cannot control, like the size and placement of markings.

WHAT IS INCLUDED IN THE PRICE?

Genetically and Physically Health Tested Parents.  A two year genetic health guarantee. An ethical, professional, home breeder who understands how to interpret genetic results and appropriately breed for not only health but also desirable physical traits like beautiful structure, coat type, coloring, furnishings, etc.  Parent dogs who are not overbred or kept in kennels. High Quality food.  Hours upon hours of intentional developmental exercises, training, and socialization with each individual puppy. A family whose entire life is built around caring for puppies in our home at every hour of day and night. . You can absolutely find a puppy that costs less than our puppies.  Just know that you usually get what you pay for.  And good things are worth the wait. A puppy that is bred with our health testing and under the supervision of a Canine Fertility Specialist Veterinarian will most likely save you thousands in vet bills later in life, not to mention the heartache of watching a little one suffer. Behavioral issues are less likely to occur in a puppy that has been intentionally raised every day of its life since birth, saving in remedial training.  Puppies come home with a microchip with pre-paid lifetime registration, their shot record, a signed letter of health from our vet, and their blankie & toy.

HOW CAN I SEE WHAT HAPPENS ON A DAILY BASIS WITH YOUR PUPPIES?

Transparency is key when it comes to responsible breeding. I've seen puppy mills and they are absolutely heart breaking.  I do Live Stories and post regularly on my instagram @poppins_puppies ,so you can watch the puppies grow.  By watching, you also get a healthy dose of a chaotic household with young children.  I don't try to edit this for you.  I'd rather you be confident that you are getting an actual glimpse of what happens each day with your puppies and see our mess and hear our noise.  Being in a household like ours is part of what makes our puppies good pets.  By the time they've left our house, they've been exposed to a multitude of sounds, smells, textures, other dogs, and have been handled by all ages of people and given as many new experiences as we can safely come up with for them.

DO YOU DE-WORM? MICROCHIP? VACCINATE? REMOVE DEW-CLAWS?

Puppies are de-wormed every two weeks, and kept up-to-date on vaccinations from our vet.

Every puppy is sent home with a microchip from AKC Reunite. I pre-pay for their lifetime registration.  This is to ensure none of my puppies ever end up in a shelter.  I do not remove dew claws in this breed.  They are usually born without back dew claws, and a very small front dew claw, which does not need to be removed.  In the UK, removing Dew claws is illegal. I'm really not sure why this is done in the US. Especially in this breed, I feel it is cruel, unnecessary, and  interferes with agility.  If you choose to have dew claws removed, you can have your vet do so during your dogs spay/neuter.

CAN YOU TELL ME MORE ABOUT THE CAVAPOO BREED?

Good Question.  HERE is some information.

FullSizeRender-8.jpeg

DO YOU GIVE BREEDING RIGHTS?

No. All of our puppies are sold as pet only, with a strict spay/neuter contract.

HOW CAN I SEE SOME OF YOUR PREVIOUS PUPPIES GROWN? DO YOU HAVE REFERENCES?

A lot of my previous puppies have their own public instagram accounts.  I love getting to follow them as they have grown and gone on adventures with their new families. I have a "Poppins Alumni" highlight bubble on my instagram so you can follow and message them.
